In a scene 50,000 years ago, a Eurasian cave lion roars in front of the Lascaux Cave paintings depicting its namesake on a hunt.

While we do not know exactly what these big cats looked like we have cave paintings and some preserved specimens to give us an idea! It was unlikely that the cave lion had a full mane like the current African lion, and I created this pin inspired off of the colorations and designs seen in the cave paintings.
